Hi everyone,
Catherine and I hope that you and your families are safe and your homes are ok after Tuesdays devastating earthquake. You should be very proud of your children and they way they reacted to the earthquake. All of them sensibly lined up on the field and followed instructions at a very difficult time. They were all looking after each other and comforting each other - something that reiterates one of our values of application of attitudes and respect of others feelings.
At the moment we do not know when school is reopening. However, you will be contacted about this as the school is updated. At the moment the building inspectors have been in and the school is safe but the water supply is the problem.
Both of our families are safe but both our houses took a knock with lots of interior damange. However, it is all replaceable and just 'things'. Please do not hesitate to contact Catherine or myself if you need anything - food, a room, or just a chat.
We will let you know as soon as we know anything.
Best wishes to you all
Bronwyn and Catherine

Homefun
Hello everyone,
We have had a few parents express interest in having some activities for the children to do as 'Homefun'. As it is now school policy not to provide 'Homefun' apart from reading, spelling and some basic facts, we will not be doing this as a set task anymore. However, please find some websites under the 'useful websites' heading on the right that you can go to and download your own worksheets and topic based activities. Let me know what you think and I can find some more for you. Thanks for your participation.

Week 3

Welcome to week 3. It has been a busy couple of weeks doing all the children's maths, reading and spelling testing. The children have settled well. Catherine and I (and the other staff members) have been lucky enough to be receiving some pd on positive behaviour for learning called 'The Incredible Years Programme'. If you have been into the room on these days you would have met Jacqui Porter who is doing our relieving. We do try very hard to have the same reliever for consistency. Remeber to book your time for the Goal Setting Interviews for next Tuesday and Thursday. You can book online at http://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/, and school event code is WXWR5. Please note that I will be doing the Tuesday night interviews and Catherine doing the Thursday night ones, however we will be getting together to run through what we think appropriate goals will be for your child. Please remember you are always welcome into Room 9 and to let us know if you would like to discuss anything. Enjoy the rest of your week. Have a look at some of our photos from the swimming fun night at Jellie Park last Friday....

New Websites
Hi everyone,
I have added a couple of websites under 'Useful Websites' on the right hand column. Both are about family trees and how they work. This will help the children understand the process behind the family tree and links into our topic. Enjoy and remember to let us know what you think!!
Have a lovely weekend.
Bronwyn
P.s I have also included a new 'gadget' that lets you know about upcoming events and you can also RSVP online to them (but you do not have to).

Welcome
Welcome everyone to room 9. Thanks to those parents who came along to our'Meet the Teacher' evening last night. It was fabulous to see so many of you there. Again, to reiterate (and for those unable to make it last night) please feel free to come and talk (or email) myself and Catherine about any questions or concerns you have regarding your child.
We are looking forward to a busy and exciting term.
This blog will update you on what is happening and things that are coming up in the school calendar. It will also have photos and videos of the children's learning.
See you soon
