Making Jelly
We made Jelly as part of our Inquiry. First of all we put the jelly Crystals in a bowl. We had a discussion about whether the crystals were a solid or a liquid. We decided they were a solid as each tiny crystal was hard and didn't change shape (even though when we poured all of the crystals they were a bit like a liquid). We added hot water - it turned into a liquid. The Jelly Crystals had dissolved. We then put it in the fridge for an hour. When we took it out it had turned into a solid again. We had to eat it after that and it was delicious! Keep an eye out for some of our fabulous descriptive writing about making jelly . They will be on our blog soon.

Term 2
Welcome to Term 2.
It is hard to believe it is May already. The children are doing fantastically well with their learning. We have some exciting things happening this term including a visit from the police to talk to the children about road safety, to try on uniforms and have a look at the police cars!! We have started our new Inquiry topic about solids, liquids and gases (stay posted for some photos from our liguid nitrogen experiments), and we have done some ice experiments too. Over the term we will be making jelly, popcorn and some bread. Exciting times. If you follow our blog please join up as a member so we can see how many people access this. Some dates to put in your diary:
Wed 9th May - Cross Country (Ppt date Mon 14th May)
Wed 9th May - Class and individual photos (morning)

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Conor's Mum bought in a swan plant with some eggs on it. Look what has happened so far - we are now doing a mini inquiry about caterpillars and butterflies. We have integrated this into our writing, art and ICT. Come in and have a look at our own version of the Very Hungry Caterpillar on the interactive whiteboard!

Feb 22

Yesterday was a special day in the Christchurch calendar. In room 9 we briefly discussed what the day represented and where we were this time last year. Some of the children chose to sit under a tree at lunch time and reflect for a wee while before going off to play. It was up to the children whether they wanted to do this or carry on with their normal lunch time. I am very proud of the way they all discussed this special day but also talked about feeling safe at school. What a lovely and supportive school we have! We Care!
